Visit on St. Faustina's birthday – Divine Mercy Shrine

The visit to the Shrine of Divine Mercy in Lagiewniki in Krakow (Cracow) during the peregrination of the Icon of Czestochowa fell on August 25th, in the early morning hours.  At first, no one paid attention to the significance of this date.  As it turns out, on this particular day, St. Faustina Kowalska, the great apostle of Divine Mercy, was born in 1905.  This was the 107th anniversary of her birth.  Obviously, Our Lady had planned her visit to this Shrine on St. Faustina's birthday.   We have to note here, that the scheduled dates of visitation of the Icon are a result of the chain of events that are happening across many countries during this peregrination and there is no way to move or change them.

The Czestochowa Icon had arrived at Lagiewniki in the glass-enclosed Life Mobile, as usually, with the personal escort of cars and the motorcade of the Katyn Rally.  The Sisters of Our Lady of Mercy had already been awaiting Our Lady's Icon, lined up as guard of honor in front of the old chapel, where the Image of Divine Mercy, according the the vision of St. Faustina, is located.  There, also lie the remains of the Saint on the left side altar.

Each of the Sisters, greeting Our Blessed Mother in the Icon, - whether a nun, a postulant, or a candidate for this religious order - carried a beautiful flower as a gift to Our Lady, which she then placed in front of the Icon that stood on the right altar of the chapel.  At 9:00 o'clock in the morning, the Chaplet of Divine Mercy was recited, led by the Sisters with the participation of many faithful gathered.

This was a rare opportunity of meeting all the Sisters, who, standing before the Icon of Our Blessed Mother, have slightly unveiled their mystery, showing their beautiful, clear faces and their warm hearts.  The large number of Sisters, especially the younger ones, and the number of postulants and candidates for the order, had been a witness of the strength of this religious order, which thanks to St. Sister Faustina, has become the propagator of the Divine Mercy in the modern world.
