A warm welcome in Graz

The prayer group of St. Vincent de Paul, from the church of Marienpfarre Schmerzhafte Mutter (Our Lady of Sorrows) in Graz, invited Our Blessed Mother for an all-night vigil.

The Icon, visible from a distance, arrived at the church in the illuminated Life Mobile just around 11:00 p.m.  The people have been awaiting Her for a long time, praying in the church.  When She finally appeared, everyone came out onto the street in front of the church, in order to welcome Her.  They greeted Our Lady together with their priests at the forefront:  Rev. Florian Parth and his brother, also a priest, Father Rudolf.  Both priests come from Poland, which is not surprising, since there is a lack of priests in Austria.  Thus, the bishops try to invite priests from the neighboring countries and Poland happens to continue being blessed with numerous vocations to the priesthood.

The Icon was placed high on the side altar.  Father Florian, the pastor of the parish, began the prayers by making an Act of Entrustment of Austria to the Blessed Virgin Mary, which had been requested repeatedly by the late Holy Father, Bl. Pope John Paul II.  The involvement of the prayer group in this prayer vigil gave the church an excellent ambiance.  Our Lady surely felt wonderful with them throughout the whole night.

On Sunday morning, the Icon was exposed in the church during all the Masses and in his homily, the pastor was speaking about the "From Ocean to Ocean" peregrination.
